I am usually one of the first people to defend the first amendment but these folks are out of control and something needs to be done about them. Are they really allowed to go to a private funeral? If they can find something to picket about at the most innocent of funerals, they ar just as sick as the shooter. These are probably the same idiots who think killing docs who perform abortions is cool. I continue to pray for the families and hope this bigot will be run out of town before he can even post one sign.

Very well said texas gal! I have a dear friend who works for the uncle of one of the victims and will convey your message to them. She is right now a this beautiful 7 yr olds viewing. What is so weird is that the AMish share some of the same beliefs as this church. They are anti abortion anti gay etc. How this church thinks these funerals have anything to do with them is beyond me.

Per KYW radio, this group has supposedly withdrawn their statement about picketing at the funerals. We'll see if this holds true, tho.

Phelps-Roper defended the church's decision to protest at the Amish girls' funerals.
"Those Amish people, everyone is sitting around talking about those poor little girls — blah, blah, blah — they brought the wrath upon themselves," Phelps-Roper said, adding that the Amish "don't serve God, they serve themselves."

These people are truely evil. How can anyone with half a brain say that innocent little girls brought this on themselves, exactly what did they do? I will add that I don't think this group is serving God either, quite possible the opposite.

BeingReal - I hope you're right. I just spoke with someone who said that there will be watchful eyes "above and on the ground" meaning police protection.

This is truly sick. This so-called Baptist Church need to further study and understand the Amish. The Amish way of peace in all situations is truly commendable.

Those girls did not try to defend themselves, most likely because they were afraid and were taught to avoid violence.
