The 110 mph is between Lancaster and Phillie. Thats where most of the time saved is.

Are they going to incorporate express service? Say the only stops would be Philadelphia, Lancaster and Harrisburg for some trains? I think that would be nice.

Actually, the increase in train traffic is good news, even if it barely restores the frequency of service from 20 years ago when I moved to Lancaster from NYC.
Lancaster city is (as it has been) poised to become an urban bedroom community for upscale Philadelphia (and Main Line) employees who want a nicer place for thir kids and more house for their dollar. 30-something folks like living in Condos with their neighborhood bar around the corner, some evening spots to go, and a greater housing value for the dollar. The trains can make Lancaster appealing for the Philadelpia commuters. Is anyone marketing this concept? (Or is this what the Drogaris group is counting on with the Lancaster Presss Building?)

Dodge,
The trains going through that area would be slowing for the station or just gaining speed leaving the station and wouldn`t be up to speed.BUT Not all trains stop at Mt.Joy and E-Town and could easily be doing maximum authorized speed.

Jim...
That is interesting.......I have been on both of those platforms. I can tell you this......there is no way that I would want to be standing near the end of those platforms with a train speeding by at over 100 MPH.......

GW Bush's proposed Federal budget has included ZERO funding for Amtrak nearly every year since 2000. What are the chances he will succeed in his goal of shutting it down completely?

What would happen to all these rail improvements when Federal funding for Amtrak is eliminated?

Of course, once Amtrak shuts down, they would then have to spend many times the current Amtrak funding to upgrade highways in the NE corridor, and between Philadelphia and Harrisburg - plus on to Pittsburgh and Chicago.
