Loser? Two terms doesn't sound like a loser to me.

Seems Bush forgot to include in his Swann Song (was this the New Era's notion of a pun or was the headline written by the horoscope editor) Mr. Swann's sterling record of lifetime interest in the political process and outstanding record for devoted public service. Has Mr. Swann ever before voted in any primary or general election anywhere? Has he ever, before the current campaign, even once stated his views on any issue of importance to Pennsylvania voters? Strangely, the distinguished visiting Swan Song Singer failed to mention a single reference to Mr. Swann's previous experience with any activity that might qualify this famous football player to hold public office.
My grandmother gently referred to similar attempts to sell artfully concealed attributes as "a pig in a poke." The current Texas phrase for such activity characterizes this hoary pitch as "all hat and no cattle."

Yeah, even Al Gore had sense enough to distance himself from a White house loser when running for office!

It cost him the election.

Mostly you're right. We're the losers.

As for Al Gore's loss, aside from the dangling chad votes, I suspect Gore's problem is that he didn't put enough distance between himself and Clinton.

"Swan song" is a reference to an ancient belief that the Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) is completely mute during its lifespan, but may sing one heartbreakingly beautiful song just before it dies.
how appropriate!!!
