like i said before artie, life at what cost? are you going to be the one who is forced to go bankrupt because of someone else? if i took every dollar everyone in this country had and put it towards cancer research, we would still have people getting cancer. your post above sounds like you believe universal health care will end ALL premature deaths. its just too pie-in-the-sky.
What you are saying is this:
Since not everyone can be helped, that NO ONE should be helped.

What if it were YOU that went bankrupt through no fault of your own?
How much is your own life worth, or the life of anyone in your family?

It's no longer pie-in-the-sky when it become personal.
It could happen to you, just as easily as it could happen to anyone else.

I hate to rehash the same stuff i might have commented on, but a thought came to mind. By bringing Bush into this argument, you really cheapen the conversation. Bush has nothing to do with this issue, he isn't running for President. We have an oppurtunity in this country with this up coming election to make our voice heard, but i keep hearing the same stuff, and when you bring up Bush, you only distract, confuse, and cheapen, whatever it is the point you were trying to make.
finally, i love the quotation of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". forcing me to pay for someone else's health care, that sure is a messed up view on the definition of liberty.

you mentioned the govt. not me. i just pointed out that there is a huge difference between the united states government and the administration of george w bush.

you try to make it sound as if the government is untrustworthy.

the united states government is indeed trustworthy, george w bush is not.

just pointing out the flaws.

no one is going to force you to pay for someone elses health care. if you don't like your fellow americans enough to help the needy, some of whom you will send off to die in wars, then you can vote with your feet and move out.

exactly...anyone who dislikes george w bush to the point that they don't want to finance his shenanigans is free to leave or stay and work to undo the damage, whether real or perceived.

yep - see lots of complaining, whining and hate - not much leaving - guess it is really not that bad..........
