Their quickness and team speed elevated by a fast track, Lampeter-Strasburg's
football team played its "A" game Friday night on the A-Turf floor of
Hersheypark Stadium..
I would not call that their "A" game. I was at this game, and I am not trying to take anything away from LS. LS played very well. Their D line was relentless. Completely disrupting Hershey's offense the entire night. But, they had way too many turnovers. They actually lost the ball on the 15 yard line, and gave Hershey a very short field. Yet they were able to keep Hershey from even scoring a filed goal. I am not an LS fan. But I am hoping that they beat Gettysburg next week. I am cheering for the LL team. Since I saw Gettysburg play earlier in the year, I am very aware of their strengths. The have an excellent Q-back that can throw and run very well. They also have good receivers. I hope that LS can keep G-burg running for their lives like they did Hershey. The big things that I hope is that LS does not look at history, and feel that this game is already in the bag since Hershey beat G-burg earlier in the season. This is season two!! They are basically starting all over. I hope that they go into that game with the same attitude that they had this week. Play hard, go after them on every play. Just hold on to the ball and do not give them easy points.
One thing that disappointed me greatly......maybe I am used to Manheim Central games. Where in the heck was their band??? I am used to a band that plays all game long. One that plays loudly when we are on defense and plays to get the crowd and the players fired up. During our state championship game, in the snow, the band director put the band out on the track during the second half so that the players could hear them. I had to ask people that I was sitting with whether LS even had a band half way through the first half. They need to remember how important the twelfth man can be in these types of games, and get that crowd into the game.........
