I walked to the library today after parking for free south of water on chestnut
Water St. runs north and south. Did you park west of Water on Chestnut, then walk the four blocks to the library?

It isn't a survey- the "Bohemian indicator" is part of a weighting system, and the "Bohemian Criteria" is this:

"The bohemian indicator shows the concentration of writers, designers, musicians, actors and other arts-related personnel, and is a comparative measure of an area's diversity and cultural amenities (100 represents the national average in our index, so a higher or lower indicator shows a higher/lower concentration)."

This is based on 2000 Census data, and is for the ENTIRE County, which is included, for better and worse, in all METRO Lancaster analysis

yes correct

List like this are always bias towards specific types of art. My hunch is that functional art was not included in their grading criteria. What about all the Amish and Mennonites in full time quilt and furniture design?

Ah, I also see now that the study was from 2000. I'd say a lot has changed in Lancaster in the last 6 or 7 years.
And even though I don't see where the article was talking about the pseudo-artsy Dave Matthews types, I will say that they didn't interview a very wide representation of the Lancaster arts community.

"Bohemians" is what those types refer to themselves as, or at least aspire to be. I got this from the supposed "Bohemian indicator." Lancaster is known for its PA Dutch art and also is home to the Demuth Museum, a celebrated artist.
