The mechanic opened her hood and told the car to say, "Aaaah." Then he replaced the distributor, wheel cylinder and brake drums, and performed various other surgeries for $1,027.59.

Distributor on an OBD car? Sounds like he took you for a ride.

What does this mean? OBD stands for on board diagnostics. All cars built after Jan 1996 have OBDII. There are many that also have distributors.......

All the computer driven cars I've seen use crank sensors and electronic ignitions. A distributor-driven car that new just sounds strange.

Sounds like a head crack, or gasket failure. Once engines get that "fever" a couple times (sometimes once will be enough), the heat takes a toll on ring seal. Even if you fix the head/gasket, it will leak compression into the engine proper, making it appear like oil is leaking from every gasket. Another heart (engine) if you love that particular beast. How many miles on the trans.....?
