SUV's still going strong? Then let them choke on the high gas prices......these gas guzzlers are largely responsible for the high gas prices - they can have them.

my take on the "bad drives" theme this thread has taken is this. I firmly believe when when you lessen the consequences of something bad happening, its it more likely to happen (I believe this as a maxim, not just for cars and driving). The safer cars become, the more likely people are to drive like maniacs, because they think the seat belts, air bags, better construction will protect them. Clearly large SUV's are safer for the driver in an accident, therefore, all things being equal (aka, all cars having standard safety equipment), a guy in a car that is now inherently safer, will drive a little more recklessly.

furthermore, without said safety equipment, the bad drivers are weeded out, so the good drivers have more room on the road. therefore, i think we should replace air bags with cinderblocks. ok, that was more of a joke, but there is a little bit of truth to it.

its odd, the usual attitude when it comes to SUV's is "people should stop doing it", but on that McCaskey prom thread, there was a clear "these kids should be able to do what they want" theme. maybe i'm the only one that sees a kind of paradoxical conclusion between the two stories.

^^ You forgot to add the young guys in their souped up civics who think they are invinicible. Four of them passed me (and my kids) last evening on Fruitville Pike again. Stupid cars don't even sound tough, just like little dangerous bugs flying around. This is the second time I've encountered them and I'm not on that road too terribly often. I can tell you it scared the heck out of me the first time they came up from behind me and passed me as I was about to get in the other lane. And yes I did check the mirrors, twice, they just were going way too fast.

Okie Dokie Joe. Maybe you could throw some of your 'logic' in with your driving lessons. Care to name a place we call all meet you to learn these most wonderful lessons of yours? Can you throw in some information about Jesus while you are at it? Don't forget self healing also. Wow, we are all going to be like Joe. What a wonderful world it will be!!

seek and ye shall find , my friend.

if i instruct you you will quickly forget what you have learned and return to your destructive ways.

if you seek out for yourself ,these lessons, you will be far better off. you will feel as if you accomplished something and apply them to your life to make it more worthwhile.

i can only point you in the right direction, my son.

knock and it shall be opened unto you. all who seek shall find.

now get off yer duff and start seeking will ya?LOL

I keep noticing more and more of this lately. It is funny to sit back and watch it happen. Just wait as America becomes more polarized between ideals and issues that this will happen more and more.
