implants aren't the point of what I was saying.

i did exactly what my doctors told me.
take your meds.
exercise.
cut down on smoking.
eat more healthfully.
and now?
i found a different doctor who realized that while those are all very good things, there was something still very, very wrong.
that no matter what i do, i am stuck with diabetes for the rest of my life.

unfair? yes, but that is life.
preventable? possibly.
damage avoided? no. four years of treating and trying to solve the little things.

why?

I beg to differ with that statement. My family doctor INSISTS I take medications that make me feel weak and aching. I didn't want to take these meds at all, but he actually ARGUED WITH ME ABOUT IT. Eventually, I simply stopped taking the pills that make me feel the worst.

The family doctor truly believes treating test results is FAR more important than treating symptoms, and it is beyond obvious that he believes my symptoms are unimportant. He also believes I should do exactly what he tells me to.

The argument centered over my "quality of life". The truth is, my "quality of life" has deteriorated significantly since the doctor forced these pills on me.

I totall agree. As many of you know after my first ever abnormal pap, the doct wanted to do all these expensive treatments for HPV and dysplasia when the first thing he should of done was actually test me for HPV. I was never told by this man that it was very likely that in 4-6 months this would simply go away on it's own. Luckily I got a second opinion and am back to good health. The reason for the first docs opinion--I was over forty and a smoker. He just could not believe that a middle aged smoker could possibly have a great immune system.
I also do not jump on the prescription banwagon because of expense and side effects. My doc prescribed Chantix to quit smoking but I will not take it. I am doing it the old fashioned way--discipline and gradual weaning off cigs. The expense andposisble side effects were not worth it. Years ago I took wellbutrin and got a horrible rash. DOc said it was not the drug but the minute I went off it the rash disappeared and never came back.
