The title of this article is, "How GOP team withstood challenge".

WHAT CHALLENGE?

This campaign never was about issues. Stuckey and Martin waited until literally days before the election before addressing ANYTHING that could be considered "issues", then presented programs that were primarily platitudes.

Charlie Smithgall spoke mostly about his "record". It's too bad he didn't present his REAL record, if he had he would have lost by a far larger margin.

Heidi Wheaton seemed to focus on the system itself, or at least that is what the media projected. What did Heidi REALLY stand for? If nothing else, the Establishment proved that it was scared $hitless of her.

On the Democrat side, Craig Lehman has said nothing about anything. I didn't think it was possible for a Democrat to out-platitude a group of Republicans, but Craig Lehman successfully projected a lot of nothing.

Only Molly Henderson's campaign literature and web site discussed issues. Of course, the media made certain Molly's message never got to the public.

Where does this leave Lancaster County voters?

With the exception of Molly Henderson, who has been marginalized by the media, we STILL don't know much of anything about any of these candidates.

Is this any way to run a campaign?

"Stealth campaigns" have proven to be very successful.

Justin, Are you saying "stealth" as in campaign consultants and other anonymouse campaign spokespeople who comment on competitior campaigns without disclosing their true roles? Hardly successful.

Like the actor Ronald Reagan whose presidential campaign contained no issue-based agenda. He made no campaign promises to anyone.....and the rest is history.
