The Lancaster City Police do an outstanding job, and are to be commended. But this current level of violence is bigger than them. They can react to the aggression, buy they cannot prevent it. Innocent city residents are being victimized at a rate that demands a plan of action .... and the current political leadership is not stepping up to the plate.

If only 1/10th of the public money already spent, plus what's promised for the convention center was used to hire and train more police, it would be a start in the right direction. Misplaced priorities ... nothing new here, regardless of the political party currently at the helm.
You have that part right. The priority should be on infiltrating illegal gun rackets. Longer sentences only take 1 gun off the street.

The mayor has admitted as much that its bigger than just Lancaster, it's a national problem. Average citizens shouldn't have to surrender their guns, but illegal distribution rings should be targetted.

Shot a little girl and a man in the back: even for thugs, these are the lowest, most dishonorable things to do with a gun. If this coward thought he was protecting his cred with this act, he accomplished the opposite. If his "Stop Snitching" buddies won't turn him in, I at least hope that they take care of him themselves.

Oh, and leave a note on the corpse so the police can close the case on this one.

I am afraid that I must support what you are saying. I'm old enough to remember some of the horrible stories about "back-alley" abortions in the news before Roe v. Wade.

All "outlawing" abortions does is turn otherwise law-abiding people into criminals.

DISCLAIMER: I am 100% totally and completely PRO-LIFE.
But legislating morality almost always makes things worse, not better.

Yup, I remember of hearing of a guy in town who did those. Never knew if it was true. but all the girls seemed to know of him (this was in the late 50's and 60's).

Yeah, Artie. Kind of the same reason that I plan on being at the Gay Pride parade in June. I am not gay, but it seems to me that if the community were more accepting, the gays would not have to hit on me at the gyms up there.

I understand that homosexuality is usually not associated with tradtional Christianity, but then slavery and indentured servitute was, and for a very long time. I'll be there as straight, Christian, and in my butt-less chaps on my bike.

Crime of any kind is a direct response to poverty. People with education and good jobs who can support themselves and their families and teach their children good values usually do not commit crimes. Unfortunately we must stop teens from procreating because that fuels the fire. How many of these criminals were raised on welfare by single parents who were never home to care for them? How many turn to the streets because they see their parents working hard but never making ends meet and living down in crap holes with nothing to show for their labor? Adoption and abortion must be viable choices for unwed young women who become pregnant. Welfare should be a LAST resort not a career goal. Wherever you see section 8 housing and welfare recipients, that is usually where the high crime is. Can't be a coincidence.

Banning guns is not the solution because as was stated earlier, law abiding citizens must protect ourselves when the police are busy elsewhere. You know, speed traps and sitting outside bars to harass innocent folks.

Do you remember the date? I didn't write it down.

I wonder if Rick Gray will be there?
