What I want to know is what in the world Judge Allison was thinking??? Was he having a great day and wanted to give this guy a present?
He was convicted and yet got probation. I am sure the woman in York is in total agreeance with his decision. Had he been in state prison where he belonged this would not have happened!
When can we hold judges accountable for their stupidity?

I am wondering the same thing. It is almost as if judges don't care about women or children.
Thank God for the young man who stepped up and possibly prevented an even worse crime from occuring.

I wonder how Judge Allison would feel if this had happened to his daughter. When will the legal system wake up and realize that these perverts should be off the streets? Maybe York County will use better judgement.

Well folks, if you get some time go into the courthouse and sit in Allison's courtroom. The guy either sits an smiles or looks mad. The guy is the dumbest judge I have come across in 36 years in the legal system. That is the problem. People vote for these judges because they get endorced by the repubs or demos. They don't know these judges. I asked the voters to check up on these guys and girls running for judge before you vote.

Even in the 21st century Lancaster County judges seem to embody this antiquated male mindset regarding sex related crimes. This is no scientific survey of course, but one of the more telling "urban myth rumors?" (with a modicum of truth) of my youth (in Lancaster) and I'm 70 now. "Burn a barn get 20 years, molest a kid get probation." That's rather simplistic, but I am sure that one could do a host of research and basically this would bear out. And I'm sure there are some "old-timers" on this board who can verify that.

It always seemed to appear that way, and from personal family experience I know that. Most of the neighborhood kids - both pre and post adolescents - could point out the "pervs" either in the neighborhood, or the ones who hung out downtown. They were always getting their names in the paper when they'd get busted and hustled off to the county for 60 days, or get probation. Indeed, Lancaster had one particular guy whose notoriety extended far and wide. He was a flasher and grabber of young boys, he always wound up in the county for 60 or 90 day stints, and while in the county he was the resident barber and all around good guy with the guards and other personnel.

That's just one small example, but trust me there were a zillion more from the 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond, and it appears to be the same thing today, at least as much as I follow the Lancaster news.

One thing that I think factors into this and something to consider is that in Pennsylvania up into the 80s mandatory sentencing stats for sex crimes were notoriously low, those guidelines only changed within the past twenty years. Now, all one needs do is to change the judicial mindset in Lancaster County regarding these type of crimes.
