As a law and order type, even I have to say that they are treated more harshly than other felons. My main concern is that our penal system, along with keeping dangerous people away from the rest of us, is supposed to be trying to rehabilitate these criminals.

The people have spoken and the legislatures have responded and we have these laws. I can understand their concerns.

If it stops one repeat offender from hurting another child, I guess it is warranted.

If there is a constitutional issue it may rise on the post sentence detention of sex offenders. There is a story out today that New York state is working on a plan to house sex offenders in institutions even after the expiration of their sentence.

Artie, if you want all felons to be registered then tell old pay hike Mike. Maybe he can take care of that for you. Megan's Law was changed because of constitutional challenges so the law is now constitutional. The rehab of peds is very iffy that's one of the reasons this law was put into effect. This guy was told several times that he needed to tell the prison what address he would be living at and he wouldn't tell them, hense the arrest when he stepped out of prison. Good bye sucker maybe next time you will give an address.
