Aw nuts.

I guess I'm stuck with The Shopping News.

[Can I get that prosthetic to point in my direction?]

For a more complete and far more interesting account of the LNP's involvement in the Kirchner affair see Ron Harper's piece on this subject. As usual, the LNP version is a bit less complete than Harper's highly detailed 5th estate essay.

EXCELLENT story at the 5th Estate! Ron everything you reported rings truer than anything I've ever seen printed in an LNP publication.

And it explains Justin's dismissal. Fire a top reporter for posting on Talkback? Riiiiiiiight

What I don't get is giving the reporters (and by extension LNP) immunity from prosecution. If the State AG had even some of this information, it would seem that Kirchner would be the small fry and LNP reporters would be a fat juicy trial case.

Sooo.... who paid for all that to happen "the right way" ?

Hard to know where to start with this - what I keep thinking about is that nobody seemed to know about this down at LNP. Didn't the reporter's supervisors/ LNP editors ever go up to these guys and say "hey good work, where do you get all of those details?" They either HAD to know, or are quite negligent in their duties (would not surprise).
This goes deeper than we will probably get to know.

Yes, well MOST things go far deeper than the public will ever know.

Justin tells his story on 5th Estate and more or less confirms that posting on TB was the reason he was fired.

Under an anonymous pseudonym, I accessed LancasterOnline.com and posted several statements that wrongly admonished Lancaster County District Attorney Donald Totaro and the Lancaster New Era for their roles in publicizing the activities of my fellow reporters. It was for these anonymous statements - and these statements alone - that I was fired. I can see now that my commentary was misguided, and I have apologized both to Totaro and to New Era Editor Ernie Schreiber for my comments. I offer them my apologies once again.
